Virginia Tech Steger Center Grows as Hub for International Research Collaboration
Virginia Tech's Steger Center in Switzerland is growing as a global research hub, hosting faculty from around the world for collaborative workshops in pandemic science, drone technology, and public health innovation.
Virginia Tech’s Steger Center for International Scholarship in Riva San Vitale, Switzerland, is expanding its role as a global research incubator, hosting more than 80 faculty members from Virginia Tech and institutions around the world for intensive collaborative workshops in summer 2025. The center reserved the month of July for faculty-led initiatives, bringing together researchers in areas including pandemic science, drone technology, and public health to forge new international partnerships. Dan Sui, Virginia Tech’s senior vice president for research and innovation, visited the center and described it as a major catalyst for the university’s Global Distinction goals. The center’s executive director Sara Steinert Borella noted that the setting is designed to spark new ideas and collaborations away from day-to-day distractions.
