Dr. Joseph L. Graves Jr. of North Carolina A&T State University has released a new book, Why Black People Die Sooner, published by Columbia University Press. The book examines how structural racism and lived experiences shape biological outcomes and contribute to persistent health disparities. Of particular interest to PreMiEr members, Chapter 5, “Race and the Microbiome,” explores connections between racialized environments and microbiome-related health outcomes.
