PreMiEr’s Innovation Ecosystem

Industry Partnership Program

Through our ecosystem of industry partners, government agencies, hospitals, multidisciplinary faculty and scholars, and community stakeholders we are developing market-relevant, next-generation biosensing and intervention technologies targeting the microbiomes of the built environment to improve health outcomes.

Organizations joining PreMiEr through our industry membership program gain a broad range of benefits.

Industry member benefits include access to:

  • World-class experts in fields such as microbiology, civil & environmental engineering, biomedical engineering, genetics and evolution, biostatistics, infectious disease, and computer science at Duke University, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, North Carolina State University, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
  • Custom technology, device, and software development opportunities.
  • Specialized research space, test beds, and equipment.
  • A vibrant network of like-minded partners!

Get the inside track!

Comprehensive efforts studying the human gut microbiome in recent decades uncovered exciting and unexpected links between the microorganisms that inhabit the body and many aspects of human health. The PreMiEr ERC explores a similar question in an emerging field of study – can we engineer the microbiomes of the built environment to positively affect human human health outcomes?

In this process, we forsee market-relevant technologies and sofware development in the fields of high-throughput and autonomous biosensing, human health correlations, and engineering interventions to deter the spread of harmful traits and organisms and promote the growth of beneficial microbes.
