New PreMiEr Preprint: Far-UVC Light Shows Promise for Hospital Disinfection, But More Evidence Needed

A systematic scoping review by PreMiEr researchers finds that far-UVC light can reduce microbial contamination on hospital surfaces and in the air, but that the evidence base remains limited and inconsistent. Most existing studies were short-term and conducted under controlled conditions rather than during routine clinical use, and reporting practices varied widely across studies. The review, released as a preprint, concludes that far-UVC is a promising disinfection technology but that more rigorous, real-world research is needed before it can be broadly recommended for healthcare settings.
