PreMiEr researcher Denene Blackwood of the University of North Carolina recently represented the center at a recent Hurricane Preparedness Expo held in Morehead City, NC, on May 5th.

Ms. Blackwood is part of a PreMiEr research team investigating new ways to detect harmful fungal molds in homes, especially those impacted by severe weather events such as coastal flooding caused by hurricanes. She interacted with members of the public and enrolled participants in a mold perceptions and behaviors study being conducted alongside social scientists from North Carolina State University, and engaged with homeowners providing information related to health aspects related to mold exposure.
