August 26 | Biology & Microbiomes

Virtual (Zoom) | 1 – 4 pm.

Taught by Dr. Misty Thomas of N.C. A&T, this workshop is intended to give a broad overview of biological topics related to microbiome research. The intended audience is PreMiEr members with expertise outside of biology or microbiology, or those looking for a refresher on those topics.

Registration closes: August 21

September 9 | Overview of Microbiome Lab Techniques

Virtual (Zoom) | 1 – 4 pm.

Taught by Dr. Cynthia Gibas and Dr. Jessica Schlueter of UNC Charlotte, this workshop is intended to give an overview of lab techniques relevant to sampling and analyzing microbiomes of the built environment.

Registration closes: September 2nd

September 16 | Illumina "Lab-in-a-Box" Virtual Session

Virtual (Zoom) | 1 – 4 pm.

Taught by representatives of PreMiEr Industry Member, Illumina, this workshop introduces participants to sequencing pipelines using Illumina technology.

This is a companion workshop to the Illumina “hands-on” experience at either Duke University (September 30th) or North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (October 4th).

Registrants should sign up for this virtual workshop and an associated hands-on workshop at either Duke or N.C. A&T. Space may be limited.

September 30 | Illumina "Lab-in-a-Box" Hands-on Session (@ Duke)

In-person | Duke University | 1 – 4 pm.

Sponsored by PreMiEr Industry Member  Illumina, this “lab-in-a-box” experience at Duke University is a 3-hour, in-person, hands-on workshop that gives participants experience in library preparation for next-generation sequencing and an introduction to sequencing pipelines but one of the world’s leading companies in the field.

Registrants who sign up for this hands-on workshop must also attend the September 16th virtual workshop. Space may be limited.

October 4 | Illumina "Lab-in-a-Box" Hands-on Session (@ N.C. A&T)

In-person | N.C. A&T University | 10-2 pm (tentative)

Sponsored by PreMiEr Industry Member  Illumina, this “lab-in-a-box” experience at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is a 3-hour, in-person, hands-on workshop that gives participants experience in library preparation for next-generation sequencing and an introduction to sequencing pipelines but one of the world’s leading companies in the field.

Registrants who sign up for this hands-on workshop must also attend the September 16th virtual workshop. Space may be limited.

RESCHEDULED TO SPRING 2025 | Overview of Microbiome Informatics

Virtual (Zoom) | 2:30 – 5 pm.

Taught by Dr. Anthony Fodor of UNC Charlotte, this workshop is intended to give an overview of topics related to analyzing bioinformatic data sets related to microbiomes of the built environment.

Registration closes: September 30th
