NC A&T Brings Free Biotechnology Resources to Triad Teachers

North Carolina A&T State University is providing free biotechnology training and lab kits to K-12 teachers across the Piedmont Triad through the Amgen Biotech Experience program. Teachers receive two days of hands-on lab training at A&T, plus loaner kits they can take into their classrooms for three weeks. The program covers experiments in DNA, forensic science, and biotechnology, and has been used by some teachers for three years running. Dr. Joseph Lewis Graves Jr., biology professor at A&T, says the goal is to spark student interest and build a pipeline of North Carolina students into STEM careers. All training and supplies are fully funded through the Amgen award at no cost to schools.
