PreMiEr researcher and CRISPR pioneer Rodolphe Barrangou has been honored with the 2025 CALS Distinguished Alumni Award at NC State University, recognizing his groundbreaking contributions to biotechnology and food science.

PreMiEr Researcher Rodolphe Barrangou Honored with 2025 CALS Distinguished Alumni Award

PreMiEr researcher Rodolphe Barrangou has been named a 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award winner by NC State University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Barrangou, the Todd R. Klaenhammer Distinguished Professor in Probiotics Research and a pioneer in CRISPR technology, co-founded five biotech companies and has been a CALS faculty member since 2013. He has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, and the National Academy of Inventors, and has received international honors including the Canada Gairdner International Award and the Warren Alpert Foundation Prize. He was recognized alongside other outstanding alumni at a ceremony at NC State’s Talley Student Union on September 5, 2025.
